my new birthday present

As I said on Sunday, it looks and feels really rather manly. Lucky that what it contains is genderless! It's the new ESV Study Bible that Steve bought for me (isn't he nice?!) and it's very cool. I even had trouble taking off the plastic and starting to use it because it's so special - I'm very sentimental like that!

It's had absolutely RAVE reviews from stacks and stacks of Bible scholars, teachers, and pastors worldwide because of its fantastic features inside - which you can read all about at the Bible's very own website.

Basically, it's like having several books in one - a literal, readable version of Scripture (the English Standard Version) along with a commentary (explanatory notes written by humans about the words given by God), a Bible atlas (maps, diagrams, timelines and charts), a Bible dictionary (articles explaining certain concepts and doctrines), and a concordance (a list of biblical words with which passages they're found in).

In short, if you find it hard to read the Bible by yourself because there's stacks that you don't understand (which is fine, and doesn't mean that the Bible isn't clear), a study Bible can be a great help. In particular, a trustworthy study Bible is a brilliant asset and investment if it helps you know and love God's word more. Check out all the endorsements here, and start saving up for your copy!
