Australia Zoo

You may or may not have thought about it, but seeing as pastors work on Sundays, they don't get 'weekends'. Which means their days off certainly aren't Sundays, and are quite often taken during everybody else's working week. This has pros and cons; public holidays aren't the very exciting commodity for pastors that they are for the Monday-Friday 9-5ers, but then on the other hand, you can go to places like Australia Zoo on a Monday, without all the masses of locals who churn through the gates on Saturdays.

So seeing as our day off is Monday, and seeing as Steve's parents very thoughtfully gave him AZ tickets for his birthday (last October), and seeing as they expire on May 22 and this was our last possible Monday to use them since we're in Sydney next week, we went to Australia Zoo on Monday.

It was a much more pleasant excursion than I thought it might be; you (wrongly!) tend to think you outgrow zoos upon leaving primary school! We saw big, small, cute, ugly, furry, prickly, quick, slow, friendly, and ghastly animals, learned a few Wildlife Warrior facts, patted koalas, kangaroos, lambs, piglets, and goatlets (!), took heaps of photos, and couldn't help but praise God for His magnificent creation. It's not only the heavens that declare His glory, and we prayed over our salad wraps and chips at lunchtime that many of the gozillions of tourists who frequent AZ would have their eyes opened to see the glory of the animals, AND praise God their Creator.

Conclusion? If you can find someone to give you free tickets, definitely go.
